“Boutique des Sciences”, a collaborative space for ecological projects

The Boutique des Sciences leverages the Montpellier environment, which is very conducive to its development.

“There is real research momentum in Montpellier, and a dense community of associations involved with the agroecological transition and environmental sciences,” highlights Raphaëlle Anginot. “However, there are very few bridges between scientists, the farming world, associations, and citizens. The goal of the Boutique des Sciences is to bring them into contact with each other and help them define projects together.”

Two pilot studies have been incubated since June 2018. The first is elaborated with the Bird Protection League and DREAL Occitanie (Regional Department for Housing, Development, and the Environment), with the goal of studying how to reduce the impact of wind-turbines on bird deaths.

The second project, assisted by Agropolis and led by a consortium of organizations (Nature et Progrès, Inpact, Semeur de Jardins, Marché Paysans, Terre et humanisme, Biodiversité échanges et diffusion d’expériences), seeks to promote the development of food from “ecological agriculture and family farming.” These actions match Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole policy to favor good living and sustainable development.
